SILVER VAVE
Statistics show a very sad picture of Polish old age. For several years we have been observing the aging of the society, due to the decrease in births and the increasing life expectancy. At the end of 2020, the number of people aged 60 and over constitutes a quarter of the population. And although more and more elderly people try to be physically, professionally and socially active – most of them remain passive. The Polish stereotype of old age is still associated with fear, infirmity, illness and loss of independence and loneliness. This is due to many factors – primarily a very bad economic situation, poor access to health care, lack of education and places where seniors would be properly taken care of.
Social discourse about the silver generation, whose motto is the fullness of life as well as social activity its growing,The model of aging in the Western countries has changed dramatically in recent years. And it is a very good motivation for us (Poland, but not only) to properly take care of seniors. The number of initiatives that offer seniors a whole range of activities is constantly growing. More emphasis is placed on the needs of the elderly, their well-being and mental health. In my project, I would like to show that old age can have a different dimension, full of color, fun and beauty. It can be full of social life, full of activities, entertainment and interesting experiences.
